On Tuesday, there was a sharp increase in electricity prices in the north of Cyprus. Tariffs have been increased by almost 12%, making electricity more expensive in the north than in the Republic of Cyprus.

Consumers in the south pay per kilowatt hour:
- Energy fee: 10.35 cents
- Grid fee: 3.05 cents
