Cyprus' new ESC hope: Antigoni rocks Vienna 2026!
VIENNA/NIKI. – The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna has its first official act: Cyprus is relying on concentrated female power this year and is sending the talented British-Cypriot singer Antigoni into the race! The news, which was announced by the Cypriot broadcaster CyBC on November 6, 2025, is already causing great excitement in the European music scene.
The 70th edition of the world's largest music competition will take place on May 12, 14 and 16, 2026 at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria. After Austria's victory at the ESC 2025 in Basel, the contest returns to a city that was already host in 1967 and 2015.
Who is Antigoni? Young, sassy, international
Antigoni Buxton, better known only as Antigoni, was born and raised in London but has deep Cypriot roots. Her career is characterized by a mix of modern pop and influences from her Greek Cypriot culture.
* Big stage: She already has stage experience and was most recently on a world tour as a background singer with the Greek ESC participant Marina Satti (ESC 2024).
* Reality prominence: Antigoni became known to a wider audience in 2022 through her participation in the British reality show "Love Island". She cleverly used this platform to advance her music career and increase her popularity in the UK and Cyprus.
* Authentic sound: In interviews, Antigoni repeatedly emphasized her love for her home country and her ability to authentically integrate Cypriot elements into her English-language pop sound – exactly what ESC fans hope for from a Cypriot contribution!
The Cypriot broadcaster CyBC selected Antigoni as part of an internal selection.

Even though the act has already been determined, those responsible are still keeping quiet about the song with which Antigoni will compete in Vienna. The release is expected at a later date.
However, experts are optimistic: Cyprus traditionally relies on modern, danceable pop titles with international flair. After the successful participations of Silia Kapsis ("Liar", 2024) and Andrew Lambrou ("Break a Broken Heart", 2023), the island hopes to finally get the long-awaited first ESC victory with Antigoni.
