After the terror attack in Munich, 37-year-old Amel and her daughter Hafsa (2) succumbed to their injuries on Saturday. The widower (38) now speaks in the Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ).
The father and husband, reports the SZ, together with relatives, prepared a statement on behalf of the family. It says:
“We would like to thank the assistants, nurses and doctors for their good support, guidance and emotional support.”

According to the family, 37-year-old Amel came to Germany at the age of four. She has worked as an environmental engineer for the city of Munich since 2017. The SZ writes that it is important to the family that the death of mother and daughter is not used "to stir up hatred" and that it should not be used for political purposes.
"Amel was a person who stood up for justice," the statement said. The mother stood up for solidarity, equality and workers' rights.
